Basic Commendations were an elder game commendation that can be earned by completing level 55 repeatable missions. They can be used to purchase specialty items from Basic commendation vendors. Basic Commendations had a max limit of 1000 and a weekly earning limit of 500.
In the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion, Basic Commendations were renamed Common Data Crystals before they were removed in the Knights of the Eternal Throne expansion.

Conversion of commendations[]
With the Shadow of Revan expansion, Planetary and Classic Commendations were converted into Basic Commendations at the following rates:
- Planetary Commendations - 1:3
- Classic Commendations - 2:1
Elite and Ultimate Commendations, while still available, were converted into Basic Commendations at the following rates:
- Elite Commendations - 1:2
- Ultimate Commendations - 1:3

- Patch 5.0.0 - Knights of the Eternal Throne (29 Nov 2016): Removed.
- Patch 4.0.0 - Knights of the Fallen Empire (20 Oct 2015): Basic Commendations are now Common Data Crystals.
- Patch 2.0.1 (24 Apr 2013): Basic Commendations now have a maximum cap of 1000 (up from 600).
- Basic Commendations now have a weekly cap of 500 (up from 300).
- Patch 2.0.0 (9 Apr 2013): Added.
