Beta Status
Currently Star Wars: The Old Republic is in closed beta, and invites are regularly given to some of the North American users who opted in for testing on the official website. There will be European testing in the future, but as of today, it is unknown when that will be.
At this time however even European players can "opt in" for the SWTOR beta through Bioware's website here
If you are selected for beta, you will receive an e-mail to your assigned e-mail address containing a link to instructions to continue through the beta process. (Link for test information)
There are two screenshots of the beta inviting/starting process from the players so far. The "Beta letter" linked here the undeveloped server-select screen looks like this
