Renning was a corpulent male human Sith Master and the mentor of Malora. During his time on Korriban, he operated from a lab deep within the lower wilds of the planet. [1]

Biography

During the Cold War, Renning was stationed on Korriban alongside his apprentice, Malora. The dark energies within the native creatures of the planet motivated him to begin experimentation on captured Tuk'ata, fierce beasts that dwelled near the tombs of long-dead Dark Lords. Renning believed his work would allow the Sith to grow immensely powerful in the dark side, and was especially fascinated by a mutant tuk'ata, which emanated an unusually large quantity of dark power. Unfortunately, the beast escaped his grip and descended into the Tomb of Marka Ragnos. Continuing with his experiments, Renning still wanted the beast back. [1]

Some time later, at the beginning of the Galactic War, Renning was killed by a Republic strike team on Korriban. [1]

Behind the scenes

Renning first appeared in the 2011 Bioware MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic. He is located on Korriban, in his laboratory, and is the giver of the mission Dark Science, available to both the Sith Inquisitor and Sith Warrior class. The mission consists of talking to Malora who shares her distrust in her master and proposes to sabotage Renning's work to the Player, which would ensure Renning's exile. After slaying the creature and extracting its brain, the player can return to either Malora or Renning and either expose Malora's plot or give the brain to her and collect a reward. [1]
