Grand Moff Rycus Kilran is a high-ranking Sith Empire naval commander, known as the "Butcher of Coruscant" and "Pacifier of the Togruta Uprising".

Background[]

Biography[]

Cultured, cunning and utterly ruthless, Rycus Kilran may be the greatest naval strategist the Empire has ever seen. Born to a wealthy Dromund Kaas family with a proud military tradition, Kilran proved himself (to no one's surprise) a capable right-hand man to the Sith during the Empire's early assaults on the Brema Sector. When his Sith superior died during the Battle of Ord Ibanna, however, Kilran showed that he was more than an able tactical advisor—he assumed command of the ragged Imperial fleet and led them to a swift and decisive victory.

In the years that followed, Kilran's authority grew with his list of triumphs, and both the Sith and the Minister of War learned respect for his unorthodox strategies. His brutally effective strikes during the final days of the war earned him the nickname "the Butcher of Coruscant" among Republic civilians (a name he adopted with characteristic irony), and his heroic stand against a Jedi boarding party earned him his scars. After the war ended, he was granted the honorary title "Grand Moff" in recognition of his contributions.

He is known for his patriotism, charisma, genius-level intellect and his love of wine.

The Black Talon[]

During the Cold War, Kilran ordered the captain of the The Black Talon, Captain Revinal Orzik to intercept a Republic warship, the Brentaal Star, in an effort to capture a defected Imperial general. When Orzik refused what he saw as a suicide mission for his crew and ship, Kilran contacted a team of operatives to commandeer Ozrik's ship and take care of the situation. At the same time, Kilran was also assaulting a Republic vessel, The Esseles.

Maelstrom Prison[]

Toward the end of the Cold War, Kilran was charged with overseeing the prison in the Maelstrom where the Emperor held a powerful prisoner secure for three hundred years. The same Republic strike team which had repelled his assault on the Esseles was dispatched by Jedi Master Oteg. Despite his attempts to bombard the planet, the team obtained a Gree computer from the Imperial base on Taral V in order to successfully navigate the Maelstrom and escaped.

Impressed and infuriated by the Republic's efforts, Kilran personally boarded the prison to deal with the intrusion. Despite Darth Malgus' insistence that Kilran focus on preserving the prisoner, he believed that he was more than capable of dealing with the Republic strike team and attacked. The Republic forces were able to defeat him, however, and he died within the prison's core.
