Deletion of "characters" categories

You deleted Category:Human characters with the reason that the category is redundant. It isn't, though. Characters are individuals that appear in supporting media but have no presence within the game itself.

There are three levels of entity-based categories: mob, NPC, and Character. Mobs are computer-controlled opponents that a player encounters in the game. NPCs are computer-controlled allies, and sometimes opponents, with a unique identity. Characters exist outside the game. A single being can exist in more than one of the categories, and possibly all of them. -- Heaven's Agent 19:08, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

I would agree, but it would take quite a few additional categories to create a factional structure that could actually serve a purpose. I was instructed not to do that sort of thing.
And I like being mysterious. Maybe? <.< -- Heaven's Agent 19:16, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
I don't know if there would be any real point in adding those two categories alone. They're going to end up being giant lists of NPCs with no way for users to navigate through them. Such lists would serve no purpose, and when a category doesn't serve a purpose there's no reason to include it at all. -- Heaven's Agent 19:23, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
They may be just as big, but even then species-specific NPC categories serve as a list of names used by members of that species. Still I'll go ahead and start using factional NPC categories.
On a realted note, I noticed the addition of a category for mission givers. Do we want to start adding categories for mission givers, trainers, vendors, and the like? -- Heaven's Agent 19:32, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

Re: Codex entries

I was thinking the codex could serve as primary references. If they only include the text used within the codex, and the basic information regarding the unlocking of that codex entry, then we can use them as a source for lore-based articles. If they are truly objective and neutral, and just comprise the entry itself, I'm hoping that other projects my consider using them as sources as well. It would be a great boon for our work here, for example, if Wookieepedia started linking to some of our articles.

The other reason is that the codex entries are unique and different then their topic. We could consider including them in the subject's primary article, but the codex section would actually be off-topic. Additionally, I can't think of any way to add them to these articles without having them appear tacked-on. Finally, if we were to include the codex information on the topic's primary article, we would essentially be burying the information. Users wanting to access the codex information directly will have a hard time navigating our project in search of that information. This is especially true when you consider that not all codex entries will have an equivalent primary subject article. We'd end up with some codex entries that were their own article, some that were nothing more than sections, and no way to distinguish the two or establish a standard format for the information.

I'd also like to establish a structure of codex articles that would mirror the in-game structure in organization and navigation. This would easily allow users to view entries that they cannot access themselves (faction- and class-specific entries) as well as search out entries they currently lacked. I have methods to my madness. At least, I do in this instance. -- Heaven's Agent 14:35, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

Re: NPC classes

Actually no, she's not. NPC abilities and skills are not defined by player classes, but by NPC classes; Satele Shan's NPC class is "Melee".

Besides, there is no parameter in that template for player class. That's for droid class; I really need to write the documentation. -- Heaven's Agent 17:35, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Duplicate Images

Ahh crap, sorry for making a ton of work for you =\

Do we just have the same image folder as Darth Hater? I.e., use the same string of random digits for their images?--Elephunk 02:07, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

Is there any easy way to find the specific image I'm looking for? Gonna try to get started on Bioanalysis materials.--Elephunk 02:17, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
